The Cupertino company has also enlarged the irregular heart rhythm telling feature to the new markets. Notably, both new attributes are limited to Apple Watch Series 4. The watchOS 5.2 update additionally adds support for the second-generation AirPods. The new software version comes after the launch of iOS 12.2 that surfaced earlier this week.
The most noteworthy change that watchOS 5.2 conveys is support for its ECG program in Hong Kong and 19 European markets, namely Austria, Belgium, Denmark, Finland, France, Germany, Greece, Hungary, Ireland, Italy, Luxembourg, Netherlands, Norway, Portugal, Romania, Spain, Sweden, Switzerland, and the UK. This assists users capture an electrocardiogram at any time utilizing the Apple Watch Series 4.
The ECG functionality debuted in America and US territories, such as Puerto Rico and Guam, initially back in December last year.
Alongside support for the ECG program, the watchOS 5.2 upgrade enables alarms for irregular heart rhythm for Apple Watch Series 4 users in Hong Kong and all the recently supported European markets. Apple states that the information obtained through the ECG app and intermittent rhythm telling will help alert users to indications of Atrial fibrillation (AFib).

Apple has also added support for the second-generation AirPods via watchOS 5.2. It’s worth mentioning here that iOS 12.2 before this week attracted support to your new AirPods to compatible iPhone, iPad, and iPod signature models.
In some markets, the new watchOS version also adds support for real-time text (RTT) for phone calls. The update similarly packs assistance for the Apple News+ integration which arrived on iOS earlier this past week. It also includes two brand new gradient-style watch faces for Hermès watches in Cherry/Sakura and Bleu colors to match the spring Hermès group collection.
Detailing the safety content of all watchOS 5.2 through a dedicated service page, Apple affirms that the upgrade fixes a total of 29 vulnerabilities. Among other issues, the upgrade simplifies buffer overflow, validation, and memory initialisation loopholes.
The new watchOS update is also utilized to resolve some memory corruption issues that could give access to attackers to execute arbitrary code through a malicious SMS connection or gain elevated privileges using an application. Apple has given credit to the Google Project Zero team for some of the safety fixes it used within the latest software version.
The Way to download, install watchOS 5.2 update
The watchOS 5.2 upgrade works with all Apple Watch versions running watchOS 5. To obtain the update, go to the Apple Watch program on your iOS apparatus and visit General > Software Update.
The Apple Watch must have at least 50 percent of their battery charge to allow the setup process. Additionally, it’s strongly recommended to keep it on the charging dock while installing the new upgrade.
