Spotify Testing Its First Hardware Product ‘Car Thing’, a Voice-Controlled Music Player for Cars

To Assist people enjoy audio while driving, Swedish music streaming giant Spotify is testing its Original hardware – a voice-controlled Audio and podcast player for Automobiles called”Car Thing”.

Spotify stated that it doesn’t have any plans to publish the apparatus for those customers at this time.

“While we understand there has been some speculation regarding our future strategies,’Car Thing’ was designed to help us know more about how people listen to podcasts and music. Our attention remains on getting the world’s number one audio system, not on generating hardware,” Spotify said in a blog post on Friday.

The system plugs into a car’s 12-volt outlet for electricity and connects to both a person’s automobile and phone over Bluetooth.

The wake term for the device as planned is”Hey Spotify”, which, accompanied by a tune request would allow users to access their playlists and listen to their favorite songs, The Verge reported.

“Car Thing” is designed with a circular screen on both sides, to display what is being played, and on the flip hand are a set of buttons that may be utilized to get playlist presets.

The evaluation is supposed to incorporate a small set of people and as part of the test, a few superior users would obtain the device at no cost.

“We do not have any current plans to create this specific apparatus readily available to customers, but the learnings from our evaluation will dictate how we develop experiences anyplace you listen,” Spotify included in its own post.
