Google’s Pixel 3$71,000 and Pixel 3 XL flagship smartphones were launched with an event held earlier this Season.
With high-end internals, a classic design, and inventory Android, the Pixel collection is regarded as the genuine Android flagship every year. Last year, but the Pixel 2 range stumbled upon a few hardware and software problems and this year is no different. With less than a month since the Pixel 3 and Pixel 3 XL’s launch, several issues associated with their audio, memory control, and other applications aspects have come to light.
Only last week, the Pixel 3 XL was reported to have an imbalance in audio coming out from its front-firing stereo speakers, a problem that was likely”by alternative” or due to the difference in proportion of top and bottom bezels of the smartphone. Several smartphone reviewers on YouTube had also pointed out that audio quality in video recordings on both Pixel 3 handsets is inferior and seems tinny.
In a comment to Android Police about the problem, Google said,”We created several improvements in the sound recording capabilities of Pixel 3, such as enabling stereo recording in landscape style. When recording outdoors, our tuning is specifically designed to decrease background noise like wind and road noise and overly loud sounds and optimise for audible address. To attain this, we selectively de-emphasize some frequencies, which minimises tumultuous noises and optimises the resulting audio. We do extensive user testing of our products to ensure they are tuned for real world usage, and we are always looking at additional pruning chances based on user feedback.”
Memory management problems on the 2 phones have already started popping up as noticed by a user on that Reddit thread. According to the article, the Pixel keeps reloading and closing programs when only 2-3 of these are cycled through. Another Reddit user asserts this issue makes it hard to play Pokemon Move that requires to stay active in the background for effective gameplay. Last, yet another Reddit ribbon has this opinion -“For top prices I think there is an obligation to keep up with the latest criteria, and 4GB isn’t enough anymore. I’m glad the screen is up to date now, but having this matter again this year really makes me wish to send it back.”
Not just Reddit, global smartphone reviewers have also been reporting memory control issues with the Pixel 3 scope and also have taken to Twitter to express their grievances using the telephones. The several tweets and answers essentially give us a picture that the Pixel telephones are”aggressively” killing programs that is a bad thing for a flagship handset in 2018. The bug is so bad that popular YouTube reviewer MKBHD maintained that simply opening the Camera program, while audio is playing in the background, will close and pause the audio app forcing you to launch it and play your song again.
Lastly, there’s still another major software issue with the Pixel 3. Android Police creator Artem Russakovskii took to Twitter a week to say that photos do not save his Pixel 3, very similar to something he noted on the Pixel two XL$43,997 last year. In answers to this tweet, a lot of other reviewers have claimed that numerous photos taken over the Pixel 3 XL also have not been spared in the gallery. One Twitter user additionally notes that he has been experiencing this dilemma since the days of the Nexus 5X. A Reddit ribbon was also created last week with hundreds of comments referring to the exact same issue experienced using the Google Camera program.
Google hasn’t issued a fix or a statement for its memory camera and management issues, but we are hopeful something could arrive shortly. But a few of these issues affect an insignificant proportion of the total buyers and is not as prevalent as it seems.
