Netflix is looking to Discuss more details on its viewership numbers and be more transparent in the future.
The organization, in its latest earnings call, has confirmed that it will gradually and steadily move to be more transparent and discuss viewership data of shows and films. Netflix was fairly tight-lipped about its numbers until very recently, and also this secretive behavior led to a lot of queries from investors. In its annual earnings report, Netflix also disclosed viewership numbers of Triple Frontier, The Umbrella Academy, and The Highwaymen.
Sarandos detailed with this slow transparency plan during the latest investor telephone. He said that the corporation will start releasing granular data to unique groups shortly — to producers, then to readers, and after to the press. There’s no clarity on how Netflix plans to disseminate the large pool of data. It is still unclear if only original shows and movies’ viewership data will be published, or the dataset will incorporate all content.
The business raised many eyebrows after it spent over $100 million to the 2019 streaming rights to the TV series Friends. In a January bringing calls, Sarandos clarified,”I’d look at it such as these are less monetary metrics since they are cultural metrics. In its most recent Q1 earnings report, Netflix confirmed the popular series The Umbrella Academy has been seen by over 45 million member households in the first month of its launch. Triple Frontier — by Margin Call director J.C. Chandor — has been viewed by over 52 million households in the first four weeks on Netflix, and The Highwaymen, starring Kevin Costner and Woody Harrelson as two lawmen that are tasked with bringing down Bonnie and Clyde from the 1930s, is supposedly”on track to being viewed by more than 40 million households in its first month.”
