Chinese Technology giant Huawei has been involved in”a pattern of dubious tactics” to steal technology from its rivals, Especially Apple’s China-based suppliers, The Data has claimed.
Even though the theft of trade secrets is nothing new among tech companies, the new allegations against Huawei represent”a more brazen and complicated method of seeking out confidential information”, stated the report on Monday.
According to the report, a Huawei Laboratory responsible for the smartwatch project tracked down a supplier which makes the heart rate sensor for Apple Watch that has approval from the US Food and Drug Administration (FDA).
The engineer ordered a meeting and contested the provider about the Apple Watch.
“The Huawei engineer attended the supplier meeting four Huawei researchers in tow. The Huawei group spent the time pressing the supplier for details regarding the Apple Watch.
“They had been trying their luck, but we wouldn’t tell them anything,” the supplier was quoted as stating.
According to the US Justice Department, Huawei is said to have a formal programme which rewards workers for stealing information, such as bonuses that increase based on the private worth of the data gathered.
A Huawei spokesperson replied to the report, saying that”In conducting research and development, Huawei employees must search and use publicly accessible information and respect third-party intellectual property per our business-conduct guidelines”.
Huawei also allegedly copied a component of the MacBook Pro. The business built a connector for its MateBook Pro which was like the one used in Apple’s MacBook Pro from 2016.
