Game of Thrones Season 8 Will Be Simulcast on Hotstar in India

New episodes of Game of Thrones are aired Sunday 9pm ET on HBO in the US, which translates to some Monday 6:30am IST accessibility on Hotstar at India. Thrones has not been simulcast at India since season 5, as it aired on Star World at the exact same time as HBO, albeit in a modified version because of Indian television’s self-censorship ways.

That is good news for rabid Game of Thrones lovers in India, because they won’t be an hour or more behind global audiences as before. But as with anything to do with Hotstar, it’s been silently revealed in unassuming teasers. With preceding seasons, new Thrones episodes would just be available on Hotstar after they’d completed airing on HBO, which would be 7:30am IST or later. That issue would have been compounded with all the show’s final season, which is set to have several episodes which will run over one hour.

Gadgets 360 has reached out to Disney subsidiary Star India for comment about episodes from previous Game of Thrones seasons were only available after they’d aired in america and what has changed this year. This bit will likely be updated if we hear back. We’d suppose it has something to do with the specifics of this bargain struck by HBO.
